How to request a new account

Please Note:: You only need to ask us for an account if you intend to add to the site. Please don't ask for one if only want to browse around.

Click here to send an email to us. Be sure to include:

Your name and contact details.
The user name you want to use, for example SamGamgee.
The password you want to use to login.
An email address that you want us to use to contact you.

We will then create an account for you and let you know what to do next.

Please relax. This website is much simpler than it looks and before long I hope you will agree. Please read the topics on this page - print them out if you need to - and then visit the links at the end for further assistance.

Nothing beats just clicking around and "doing stuff" by yourself.

What is this site?

This website is a "Wiki".: "What the h*** is a wiki?" you ask :-D

It's a Hawaiian word for "rapidly". It has also come to mean "What I Know Is". The basic idea is very simple: Allow anyone to add and edit pages on a website. That's it. Finished. Klaar.

You will have to join the club by becoming a "user" (go to Special:Userlogin to do so), but after that you can add your own articles and edit any others that you have some issue with or can add-to.

Activating your account properly

In order to use various facilities on the website, you need to confirm your email address.

After you have logged-in, go to Preferences (top right menu) and read the screen carefully. There is an email section there with a link you must follow. Be sure to take all the steps and then check your email. When you get the email, click the link within it so that the Wiki can be assured that your email address works.

It's a way to assure the website that your email is really yours.

Setting the correct Time Zone

Go into your preferences (see above item) and look for "Time Zone". In the box labeled "Offset" enter "2.12". This number will get the time to be right for South Africans.

This is the offset from "Universal Time" which is about 2 hours behind RSA time. You can fiddle with the number to adjust it to your computer's reported time. Press "Save" button in order to update the page to see if the Local time matches your PC.
