Provision of regular changes of soil and soil types is always first prize. Providing areas where the animal or animals can get away from each other and from the public. But that still allows the viewer the chance to see the animal. Such as providing PVC pipes for the animal to hide in but that the public can see into.
These animals have a very sensitive nose and by providing a substrate such as straw or leaf litter with food items in it can certainly be fun for the animal. Remember to make sure that the animal will not be allergic to the substrates, so check with your vet.
