To develop a sustainable Zoo community by establishing an effective and sustainable skills transfer mechanism, husbandry and behaviour management program, to enhance the welfare of animals in our care and to strive towards local and indigenous as well as international Zoo best practice. To further engage with the various communities on conservation and Biodiversity.

To develop and support a networked zoo community on the African continent that strives towards achieving good zoo practice, animal welfare, conservation and education in all participating facilities compliant with the PAAZAB Operational Standards. Develop support structures within the AKAA in collaboration with PAAZAB that are proficient in sharing and educating zoo keepers in the various aspects of zoo keeping thus creating leadership and personal professional development skills through knowledge generation towards conservation, education and research.

The purpose of having a value system is to help conform or guide all future outreach projects. To ultimately enable keepers to grow professionally as well as improve skill and knowledge transfer between keepers and their communities.
